To awaken the power of the body of Christ by helping men discover, develop, and deploy their giftedness
into their church and their community.
3 Critical Disconnections:
Disconnection #1
The church is supposed to provide a vision for men that makes them want to get out of the bleachers and run in the race!
Jesus’ vision made those who followed Him run, yet due to a fundamentally flawed church model three critical disconnections have
formed between what she’s become, and her true purpose. The first is the disconnection of men from their significance, giftedness,
and calling. God didn’t create and then redeem men to leave them occupying pews in buildings on Sundays—spectators to the great
adventure. Every man’s place is significant in the body, and each has been given unique and critical giftedness that needs to be
discovered, developed, and deployed.
But we need to fundamentally change the way we think about the church, and how we integrate teaching and learning into the fiber
of life. RECONNECTIONS is dedicated to helping men who are now spectators become participants in the great adventure. Our
thinking can change if laymen and leadership will come together under Jesus’ model of pursuing the Great Commandment in balance.
His message and lifestyle for this model is found in John 15:1-17.
Disconnection #2
The reason men are disconnected from their giftedness is due largely to the fact that leadership has become disconnected from their Great Commission
mandate to make disciples: “teaching [men] to observe all that Jesus commanded.” We don’t believe the desire of leadership is the problem, but
rather the basic system we are unwittingly placing them in. This unbiblical model is stifling leadership’s vision, and keeping their men from
running despite otherwise valiant efforts. It is our goal to expose this system, and replace it with one that helps leaders become shepherds
again, so men can become disciples. We’ve become satisfied with the creation and entertainment of converts. The goal is to fill large buildings
with students and spectators, rather than filling the streets of our communities with disciples. This can change through a renewed understanding
of the critical nature and importance of what Jesus taught us about shepherds and sheep.
Disconnection #3
Disconnections 1 & 2 have naturally led to the disengagement of the church from the community she is supposed to infiltrate,
persuade, and lead to Christ through both word and example. Many on the outside today look with great skepticism at a church they
consider hypocritical, detached, and self-serving. They see a church eager to proclaim the Gospel, but hesitant to be the Gospel
as Jesus was. They don’t see a balance of preaching and love. What they hear is what they consider cheap talk coming from expensive
buildings. They more often than not hear “noisy gongs and clanging cymbals,” because that’s what knowledge without love is.
RECONNECTION’S passion and calling is to help leadership become reconnected with its mandate to create disciples, thereby helping men
become reconnected with their giftedness and calling through fostering a holistic vision of abiding and fruit-bearing that makes them run!
This will then naturally result in the church becoming more reconnected to the community around it through acts of love that give credence to
their words. That’s what we call reconnection!
